What I Do Besides The Braceland

I work with the wounded Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers at Naval Medical Center San Diego. In the photograph above, Corporal Tim Jeffers, USMC (Ret) shakes hands with Admiral Timothy Keating, Commander, US Pacific Command in the C5 Center at NMCSD. In the center of the photo is RADM Chris Hunter, Commander, NMCSD, my boss. To the right is CAPT Jennifer Town (Ret) my collaborator and C5 Program Director. Jeffers had his legs blown off by an IED. The bomb also took out part of his skull and destroyed other parts of his body. I’ve spent a good part of the last year with Jeffers. His sense of humor is sometimes bizarre and always surprising. Just as this photo was taken, Admiral Keating asked Jeffers how he got hurt, and Jeffers replied with a deadpan, “Skateboard accident, Sir.” I love this guy!
