Welcome to the Braceland Seminar 2008
It’s that time of year again, time to get ready for the Braceland. Beginning residents always want to know, what is Braceland? C’mon, you know, it’s that Elvis museum in Memphis. No seriously, the Braceland Seminar is Navy Psychiatry’s annual academic program which precedes the American Psychiatric Association’s annual meeting.
This year the APA will be in Washington, DC, and the Braceland Seminar will be held on Saturday, 3 May 2008. The seminar runs the entire day, and it includes lunch and presentation of the Sears Award. More on the Sears Award later. It’s a fun day of great presentations, a chance to meet your colleagues, renew friendships, and share information.
Although the Braceland Seminar is organized by Navy Psychiatry, all behavioral health specialists are welcome. The presentations will be valuable to military psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and behavioral health nurse professionals of all services. We encourage reserve component practitioners to attend, and given that more than a few active duty billets have been converted to civilian positions, our GS colleagues are especially welcome at the Braceland Seminar. Non-military mental health professionals who have an interest in military psychiatric issues will find the Braceland Seminar useful.
CDR Dave Weber at Bethesda is in charge of speakers, and as usual I will be responsible for logistics, financing, registration, the Sears Award, and all the details. Check back frequently for new information. Don’t hesitate to contact either of us if you have questions. With your help we will make this the best Braceland ever. So pile on, come to Washington, and make the 2008 Braceland Seminar a success.
