Get Out The Vote

At the end of the first day of voting we are not doing so well. Out of more than 100 possible voters, only 34 votes have come in.

If we stopped here, the Sears Award would go to the nominee with 10 votes, leading by a one-vote margin. Now, do you really think we should give the Sears Award to a psychiatrist who only got 10 votes, even if he is the largest vote getter?

Every vote counts. I really, really mean that. Twice in the last few years the Award was determined by a one-vote margin.

This is one of the most important things that we do each year as a community. Unlike some of the things we do or are subjected to, this is fair and democratic.

I need you to vote! Read the bios, pick a nominee, and send me an email.

It was very heartening today to get an email from one of my colleagues who said that he knew who he wanted to vote for when he saw the names. Then he read the bios, and he changed his vote.

Each of the four nominees deserves to win the Sears Award. Each is an outstanding psychiatrist. But we can only give the Sears Award to one. And I need your help in determining the outcome.
