Sears Award Outcome
The Braceland this year was an outstanding success. We had 45 attendees, which is something of a record. The venue of our meeting room overlooking San Diego Bay helped to set the tone for a day of 13 rich and informative academic presentations. The food at lunch was great, the best in recent memory. We missed RADM Mateczun, who was unable to attend. We were thrilled and amazed that CDR Stan Raczek, the longest serving Navy psychiatrist on active duty, managed to join us for lunch, just having been discharged from the hospital that morning for an admission diagnosis of chest pain.
The Sears Award went to CAPT Brian Smullen at NMC Portsmouth. Brian was unable to attend the seminar, but he sent a message of thanks which was full of his usual blend of humor and humility.
